Apple Pie

I don't makes pies but tis the season. I had to have my mother in laws recipe which I just love for good old apple pie. She was kind enough to send it to me via email from hong kong. After looking at it, I thought I think I can do this? After all I have made these before with her I think I remember how to make pie crust. I pumped myself up and started the process of peeling and macerating over night and making the crust to chill over night so I could just pop these babies out like nothing. Next day as the rolling and preparation for the apples piled on, I thought what was I thinking?? I have kids to care for? Needless to say pie making was a bit more time consuming than what I had factored in or than what I remembered, but it really was fun I just need a full weekend to do it and no children. The outcome was great we think they taste like Grandma's and that is why they are usually consumed in minutes after being baked and no pics to show for.

What is this?

Is this what your life means to you? Please tell me they outgrow these type of stunts! I can't take anymore of it! Everyday is some new crazy life threatening activity/stunt, to which I'm sure not even teenagers attempt. He has also tryed surfing up on one side of the excersaucer(which actually looks pretty cool) and jumping from the curb to the street. Now you know that 16 month old's have none of these skills specially meaty ones so he lands on his forehead with goose eggs of the actual size appearing. I always found it funny when the Dr. at our 12-15 month check up would always say make sure they are always close to you, it only take 1 minute for something bad to happen. With Trey it's more like 1/2 a minute and don't ever loose site! (unless you are in sacrement meeting!)

Now this is more like it. Yes, that is sucker he is having. I do feel bad for strapping him, so with a sucker we are all happy! This is what Karina and Troy usually ask for if they are trying to watch a show with this guy around and I don't blame them.

Troy and Football

In the beginning of October Troy played Itty bitty flag football and he loved it. He actually listened to his coach and it also helped that his buddy Brecken was in his team. He said one of his favorite things was kicking the ball. Who knows, if kicking the ball is all he would like to do I might let him play when he is older.
I know this picture doesn't show much but he really did try taking the others flag, and he even when for a touch down, but someone took his flag before crossing the line. Good Job Troy!!

Sorry!

So sorry, no posts for such a long time. My kids stole or lost my batteries to the camera while I safely left them on the floor charging and have since recovered the other two replacements but have not downloded anything, but there is lots coming soon!

Happy B-day "Tosh"

If you have a pet and a little girl in your home, you know of the most frequently asked question, Mami, when is Toshy's birthday???? Over and over again through out the year. to which my reply is always next month, and their reply is Oh, tomorrow?? No, next month! Is that next week??? Nope next month as I proceed to mention what ever month is next. Luckily one day I was making a treat for the cousins that were over for dinner and had the most brilliant idea. Why not celebrate the cat's birthday since we have people over and cake and that's all you really need for any cat's b-day. So we proceeded, thanks to the very supportive cousins, even the teenagers who sang happy b-day to the cat, and then we had our cake. So I will no longer hear this again for one more year or year and a half or hopefully never again. Poor cat! But it really is a small price to pay for a roof over her head and some food don't you think?
The kids really do love her a lot, maybe even too much if that is possible. Sometimes I think we should get a second cat just to give this one a break.
Here she is taking her daily nap on our bed. If you can't see it well Grant's phone is at the very end which means they were probably napping together this one day, but good luck trying to get him to admit it. The cat does have a thing for Grant it's too bad it's not mutual.

Last night's dinner

For quite some while now I've been dying to have some yummy Japanese food. With much desire but not knowing how I finally mustard up some courage to try to make some. I love to cook but I'm not out to make something that's already been perfected any better so I don't venture out very often, just on things I know can turn out how I would like them. Enough said, I made a simple attempt to make chicken terriyaki and vegetable tempura with it's delicious dipping sauce. Since I make the chicken quite often my real attempt was to just have the tempura turn out. Now for all you who are wondering what tempura is, it's just some Japanese style battered veggies and then fried. We were lucky to still have some veggies from our garden so I was hoping for the best. I sent everyone to play outside to have some quiet thinking time as I followed instructions and TA-DA!!! It turned out very delicious and just as I would have had at any given restaurant. My days of craving Japanese food are over and I'm moving one step closer to my favorite...sushi and sashimi! I'm not trying to out do Grant in any way, he's bread was awesome this was just a real good change.
p.s. the dipping sause was Great!

Kudos to Grant

So sorry for taking such a long break. Life kinda attacked me all at once! I would like to hire a maid right about now or have Trey tied up all day long! Back to my thought, last weekend Grant show off some amazing skills that were impressive to me. First off he baked a pound cake from scratch all by himself but a cook book, oh and I did grease the pan and floured it. But aside that it turned out pretty darn good. Then the next day the kids found some balloons to make animals out of and once again, Grant showed off his right side of the brain some more and made this little dog for Karina. Very impressive, I know! Now if we could just help him get his shoes where they belong(not in the sink, even and or specially when they are dirty) and pick up his dishes and many, many cups he likes to be drinking out of all at once, then Eternity will seem just around the corner. We love you Grant!
