Snow days

Growing up in California did not help to prepare me for snowy days. We don't leave the house unless we have to go to dance class or preschool or to replenish our pantry with some much needed food. We went like 3 weeks without going to the store, except for milk and bread, but my grocery list was huge! It was kinda nice to be resourceful, I was real poud of myself for using my head and making real creative meals. Anyhow now we can go ahead and continue our winter hibernation. The cold does not depress me or grey days, but goodness it's so cold and I'm like the biggest chicken when it comes to driving in the snow, so we spend alot of time indoors, we are always out when the snow stops or when there's not much on the ground or streets. The kids love it, I think? We get to play alot of oldmaid and just about every night is a bubblebath night, which they just love. That's baiscally the highlight of the day, the 10 minute bubble bath before bed. Anyhow enjoy these random pics of our indoor hibernation.

Sick days will do this to you

When we got her she was cute and small, in fact at one point I thought we must have gotten the runt. Non-the less we were happy to have a pet.(We as in the kids and I) But lately I've been a bit concerned about her metal state. By the way HER name is "Tosh".....don't ask, a 3 year old named her and was adamant about it, so it had to stay. I really would have preferred something more like fur ball or fluffy or something along those lines. Anyhow about her mental stability, she seems to have a couple of interesting tendencies or more like, Dog like tendencies, of which I am not sure why??? The kids only threw her a couple times(as a kitten, not now they don't dare, they're all about the same weight now that is Karina, Troy and Tosh) and Grant only closed the garage door on her head once. And really aside from that, I can't think of any other traumatising experience she could have had??? Well so she really thinks she might be a dog. When outside the house she howls or meows so loud she usually wakes me up and sometimes Troy too. In fact when we first got her she woke Troy up all the time. So when I would go and get Troy he would be meowing as best as he could, it was real cute! So of course we open the door and she comes in but its almost like we've just unleashed the annoying dog, she follows us around the house up and down as many times as we do, all so close to us that we are running into her all all the time! Then if she catches anyone sleeping she decides to lick us till we wake, but it's not the licking that's abnormal, it's the amount of drooling that comes with it? Cats don't drool.( hence the saying "Cats rule Dogs drool") And last she eats anything that falls on the floor, Anything you name it. And it doesn't only happen when I forget to feed her, it happens all the time! Whether her plate is full or not. I just hope it all changes when she get to go outside. Maybe you're all thinking "she must not be busy if she's paying that much attention to the cat", but in reality it's hard to keep your self sane when you have sick kids and so all of a sudden you pay attention to anything just to have different things to worry about and it makes you feel like you have a life again. Really, there are only so many books to keep you entertained and well, thank goodness for the Australian Open, because there is nothing like watching people exercise while you sit on the couch eating skittles to make you feel good!

Isn't she cute! We really do love her ! (here she took hold of the camera string while I was holding it.)

Mommy talk!

Karina says: "Mami you making eggs for breakfast, like last week?"
Mami: "Yes, Karina I'm making eggs for breakfast like yesterday, not last week."
.....Mean while Troy sneezes and I say oh, buddy are you getting sick? and he says "No mami, no, no Cookie Monster tik, Cookie Mmm, Mmmm. ( all in his best monster voice, really.)
Mami: Okay, your not sick.
So basically my day continues with these type of conversations all day! No wonder when Grant gets home I can't stop talking! You do not know how complicated it can be to be going from last week to yesterday all the time, really!. There is just no room for error, otherwise everything will continue to happen last week. And about the monster in my house, he's only one and a half! Nobody told me they become monsters at this age. I thought that happens from 3 yrs and up, but apparently we started earlier with monster voice and all.

Slide show pics

So I just noticed as I've been checking out the new highlights of my blog, and constantly opening it that I never explained what some of my slide show pics are. Well Christmas eve we had a real life Nativity with Angels shepherds, sheep, wise men the star, and Joseph and Mary and Baby Jesus, except this year Joseph had 3 Mary's. See all the little girls wanted to be Mary, so in order to keep the peace and reverence in the show we decided to make them all Mary, and it worked out perfectly and everyone was happy!

Check out my Slide Show!

We had a great Christmas! We were so busy opening presents and recording it that we forgot to take any pictures at home, but we took some at grandparents. We are so excited for next year that Troy will be bigger and hopefully not get bored of opening presents. We really did enjoy it this year specially because we won't see the Olson Grandma and Grandpa since they are turning their mission papers this year. Well the toys were fun, Troy specially liked the princess vanity Karina got instead of his trains and basketball hoop. I think he has played with the trains, oh, once or twice, and that is why they are stored in nice little totes underneath the couch upstairs where no one can see them or even remember that they ever came in our home......But our play room is much more organized now! Really that's all that matters.
Karina really likes Playing in the snow, of which I'm not a fan of. Just today as we were leaving she did not go in the car as usual she went to the edge of the garage to see the new snow and I freaked out and was like--Karina don't go outside in the snow. I felt bad afterwards and let her continue to really enjoy herself and the view of the snow.
I know it sounds like I'm paranoid of the snow, nut I have my reasons really----colds, wet cold clothes, mud, being outside in the cold, the list gets longer every time I think about it, but they are good aren't they? So when you see them outside in the snow, they are so uncomfortable they can barely move that they want to come in instead. Except when Grant steals them to have company while he shovels the drive way.

Just an update!

Okay so Thanksgiving went by real fast, we had my parents visiting from California which was Great. The kids loved seeing abuelita and abuelito in fact they did not leave them alone for a minute, specially Karina, she just wanted to be around them the entire time. They also got to see my older brother and loved to play with my nephew. We also got to go to Temple square to see the lights and that was too much fun. It was absolutely freezing and we basically ran around trying to find refuge the entire time, but we made it out alive.

So I think everyone has heard the news, yes we are expecting baby # 3. Everyone is real excited about it. Karina thinks it's a girl, Troy does not care, and neither do we. But it will be fun having one more person in the home, I'm not quite sure how that will work, but it will work! So now that you know, the huge gap between my blogs will hopefully be self explanatory. I got real sick at first and then I was fighting a sinus infection and then an ear infection and then some more, basically I'm falling a part! But we're having a baby! If only I could look as cute when pregnant!(Instead of looking like I have a balloon in my belly I look like I'm the balloon!)

And last but not least. Christmas is just 4 days away, and in our house it's all about Christmas, everything is Christmas. If our doorbell rings Karina runs to the door as fast as she can and just knows that someone is bringing treats and says "mami were getting Christmas treats". Earlier it was snowing and the wind was blowing real hard and she said " look! look! it's Christmas snow mami look! Christmas snow!" We have just had an awesome year with treats this year, I've already gained I think my entire pregnancy weight! So this year due to my oversleeping eating it took me along time to get a good Christmas picture out, so I did the best I could and the least I could do to make it up for not having a good family pic. was to fetch one of Santa's little reindeer, and wallah, it was an instant success. Merry Christmas to all and stay tuned for our post Christmas news.
